Symbiosis is an ongoing series of paintings where I tell the story of the symbiotic relationship of Class Insecta with the specific plant or plants vital to its survival. Plant life plays host to the developing larva and/or provides food for adults in the form of nectar. Each painting depicts all or part of the life cycle of the butterfly, moth or insect. I paint from egg to larva to pupa/chrysalis to adult. The major benefit to the host and food plant from this natural relationship is the dispersal of pollen by the feeding insect.
